MC679739 (Updated) Yammer Rebranding to Viva Engage Domain Migration Update Web Domain

During rollout, the web domain will change for all tenants from https://web.yammer.com to engage.cloud.microsoft. No admin action is required to initiate the change, and it is not possible to opt-out of this change.

Admins need to prepare for this change because the old URL may be saved in bookmarks, linked from intranet pages, or configured in network devices like proxies. We will indefinitely redirect URLs to the new domain ensuring uninterrupted access in many cases, but you must review any domain usage specific to your environment. It is not possible for us to identify all places within your environment where redirections may not function correctly. Users may initially need to refresh their browsers to receive the redirect if they are using Viva Engage once the change occurs.

Most attention is required to other usage of the old domain which may be hardcoded in a network proxy or security system. It is not possible for Microsoft to identify instances like these which exist inside your environment. IT, network, or security admins inside your organization may be able to help identify instances and plan changes. Check your configuration for desktop and mobile browsers because they may be different.

Email Domain

The sender domain used in emails from Viva Engage will start changing from https://web.yammer.com to engage.mail.microsoft. This phased change to emails will continue until all Viva Engage email notifications and digests use the new sender domain. No admin action is required to initiate the change, and it is not possible to opt-out of this change.

Preparation for this change will depend on how you use the sender domain. If you have made specific customizations for the old domain in the past, then you may need to replicate the change for the new domain. If the old domain has been configured in transport rules, or an email gateway, then the new domain will need to be added. End users may need to update rules in Outlook. The impact will depend upon how you use the sender domain, so you will need to review your mail configuration and communicate with end users.

This change may go unnoticed by most users unless they have specific Outlook rules based on the sender domain. Outlook rules can be updated to use the new domain without admin intervention, but you will need to communicate that the change is coming. Moving to mail.microsoft eliminates the need for yammer.com rules. Customers can delete previous rules or modify them for mail.microsoft. Admins should review their email configuration.

Progressive Web App (PWA)

Users will need to re-install after the domain migration is completed in order to continue using the application this can be done through the browser PWA options: Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

Desktop Notifications

Users who have enabled desktop notifications previously, after the domain migration will have to enable them again in the Settings menu.

MC669480 (Updated) Web links from Microsoft Teams chats to open in Microsoft Edge; Teams chat will open side-by-side with link Update December 1, 2023: The Microsoft Teams change will now be completed by mid-December instead of late November as previously communicated. Additionally, an issue was discovered with managing this change using GPO and Intune, with a fix planned for early December. To manage this change prior to the fix deploying, please use the Cloud Policy service for Microsoft 365 (formerly the Office Cloud Policy Service).

The Microsoft Teams desktop app for Windows will open web links from Teams chats in Microsoft Edge to enable a new web and chat side-by-side experience.

By opening web links in Edge, users will be able to see those links side-by-side with their Teams chats—web links will open as new browser tabs and the Teams chats will open next to them in the Edge sidebar. This new, single-view Teams experience in Edge is designed to minimize switching between windows and to help users stay in the flow of work while referencing web links.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 126334.

This change to use Edge to open web links from Teams chats follows a similar, previously announced change in the Outlook for Windows app. Customers impacted by this change in Outlook were notified via MC541626, MC545904, or MC548092.

Admin controls are available as detailed below.

Updated December 11, 2023: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

To provide a unified workflow experience within Microsoft Teams we will be merging the existing Workflows app with the Power Automate app. With this merger the Power Automate app will be changing its name to "Workflows".

There will be no change to user experience within the app. Users will still be able to manage all their flows within the app along with browsing workflow templates or creating a new flow from scratch. Whether you have existing workflows in the Power Automate app or the Workflows app your workflows will persist in the new unified app. Users will still be able to configure new workflows through the various app entry points (tab, bot, message extension, message action, personal app).

MC686596 Simpler and quicker creation of teams and channels Collaborate more easily by creating teams and channels simpler and faster - a simple by default, power when needed experience!

Currently, our team and channel creation processes have several steps and are focused on letting users create team at the top level, with channel creation as an option for each team.

We are making the team create experience simpler by default, but still giving users the advanced options of creating a team from a template or group and choosing the privacy/ sensitivity of the team if they want. To help users create channels within these teams, we are putting "create channel" option at the top. They will be able to host the channel into a default team or a team they select.

Users can now create the right collab space by choosing between team or channel. Overall, users can now set up the right teams or channels from the + button, without having to go to different places or follow multiple steps.

MC690173 (Updated) Microsoft to stop honoring mail flow rules tracking user reporting Updated November 27, 2023: We have updated the content below for clarity. Thank you for your feedback.

Microsoft will stop honoring the mail flow rule which helps you track end user reporting. To improve the availability and reduce the latency of the submission service so that you can respond to threats (false negatives) more quickly and efficiently, we moved the submission service ahead of the exchange transport rule agent. Now the mail flow rules (or exchange transport rules) which you have for the following addresses – phish@office365.microsoft.com, junk@office365.microsoft.com, not_junk@office365.microsoft.com won’t be honored as the agent won't be receiving signals for these addresses.

Moreover, the message tracking logs will show that reports going to phish@office365.microsoft.com, junk@office365.microsoft.com and not_junk@office365.microsoft.com as deleted or failed.

For example: [{LED=550 4.3.2 QUEUE.TransportAgent; message deleted by transport agent};{MSG=};{FQDN=};{IP=};{LRT=}]. Please ignore it as it is by design while we look for a better way to address it.

[When this will happen:]

We'll be gradually rolling this out to customers starting late December 2023 and the roll out will be completed by late January 2024.

MC695502 (Updated) IntelliFrame experiences on new Teams app and Recognition expansion This is a two-part update, with:

IntelliFrame experiences availability on new Teams app for Desktop,

Expanding recognition support to cover scenarios such as meeting invite forwarding and Teams meeting nudge among others (Please See below for details)

IntelliFrame experiences from Edge cameras like Yealink Smartvision 60 are currently available on Teams Desktop platform. With this update, we want to announce the availability of IntelliFrame on New Teams app.

Recognition expansion: This update applies to both existing and new Teams desktop app. Previously recognition was only supported when an organizer invited the meeting room with Intelligent camera connected. With this update, we are able to support the following scenarios.

Meeting forward (both one time and recurring meetings)

Teams nudge (using Roster>add participant)

Join by meeting ID (Using MTR to join a meeting by ID)

Also, under "Recognition" feature, we heard our users and renamed unrecognized users from "Guest" to "Participant". Moving forward, with this update anyone who is unrecognized will see their name label as "Participant."

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 161427

[When this will happen:]

Standard Release: We will begin rolling out mid-January 2024 and expect to complete by late January 2024.

Updated December 15, 2023: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

With the new sync window, users can choose how many days' worth of emails and attachments they want to download to their iOS or Android device so they can always access them even while offline.

Note: The emails/attachments will be stored internally as a cache since every time a user changes their sync window (decrease) we do a clean-up of all saved data. They cannot choose the location for that matter.
