Details:

For Microsoft 365 E5 and Teams Premium customers, we are making it easier to leverage sensitivity labels from Microsoft Purview Information Protection to help set the right protection settings to meetings. Admins can now set a label inheritance policy for meeting, so that when an attendee shares a file that has a higher sensitivity than the meeting itself in meeting chat or via Live share, the meeting's sensitivity can be updated either automatically or via a recommendation to the organizer, to match with the sensitivity of the shared file.

Imagine you're organizing a meeting and someone brings a document that requires more confidentiality than the meeting itself. In the past, you might have had to manually adjust the meeting's confidentiality settings to match the document's needs. Now, with the new feature in Microsoft Teams for Microsoft 365 E5 and Teams Premium users, this process becomes much smoother.

Think of it like hosting a dinner party where you have a general dress code, but a guest arrives in formal attire because they have something important to present. Instead of having to ask everyone to change their clothes to match the guest's formality, the new system automatically suggests or adjusts the party's dress code to ensure everyone is appropriately dressed for the occasion.

In practical terms, when a file with a higher sensitivity label is shared during a Teams meeting, the meeting's sensitivity level can automatically adjust to match the file's sensitivity. This ensures that the meeting's security settings are always appropriate for the content being discussed or shared. This feature can either automatically update the meeting's sensitivity or provide a recommendation to the meeting organizer to make the change.

This new capability helps maintain the right level of protection for sensitive information, making it easier for administrators and organizers to manage security without having to manually track and adjust settings. It's like having a smart assistant that ensures everything is in order without you having to worry about it.
