Summary:
The Technology Experience score and its sub-scores will be retired from the Microsoft 365 Adoption Score between Jan 15-30, 2026. The Adoption Score will then reflect only the People Experiences sub-score, reducing the maximum score from 900 to 600. This change is automatic and affects admins, not end users.
Details:
We will retire the Technology Experience score and its three sub-scores (Network Connectivity, M365 Apps Health, and Endpoint Analytics) from Adoption Score in Microsoft 365 Admin Center starting Jan 15, 2026, and ending Jan 30, 2026.
After this change is made, the all-up Adoption Score will be equal to the People Experiences sub-score. This sub-score captures end user progress towards deeply embedding M365 and Copilot in their day-to-day productivity workflows. The total Adoption Score will reduce from a maximum of 900 to a maximum of 600.
This change will happen automatically by the specified date. To prepare for the change, inform any admins or report readers that regularly use Adoption Score that they will see change to their total Adoption Score value on the date of the change. End users are not impacted by this change.

The upcoming change in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center involves the retirement of the Technology Experience score from the Adoption Score. Think of the Adoption Score like a report card for how well your organization is using Microsoft 365 tools. Currently, this report card has two main sections: one that looks at how people are using the tools (People Experiences) and another that looks at the technical side of things (Technology Experience).
Imagine you have a fitness tracker that measures both your physical activity and your sleep quality. The physical activity score tells you how active you are, while the sleep score tells you how well you are resting. If the tracker decided to stop measuring sleep and only focused on physical activity, your overall score would change, reflecting just your activity level. Similarly, Microsoft is shifting focus to just the People Experiences, which means they are only looking at how people are using the tools in their daily work.
By removing the Technology Experience score, the maximum score will decrease from 900 to 600. This change is automatic and will happen between January 15 and January 30, 2026. It’s important for those who regularly check these scores, like admins or report readers, to be aware that the total score will look different after this change. However, this will not affect the end users directly, as it’s more about how the organization tracks and understands tool usage.
In summary, the focus is now solely on how well people are integrating Microsoft 365 tools into their workflows, rather than on the technical performance of the tools themselves. This shift is akin to focusing on how well you’re using a fitness app rather than how well the app itself is functioning.
