explanation for non-techies**
Microsoft is introducing a new feature called Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, which will be integrated into Teams. Think of it like adding a smart assistant to your conversations, similar to having a helpful co-worker who sits next to you during meetings and chats, ready to provide information and support when needed. This feature will be available to users who have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and can be accessed on both desktop and web versions of Teams.
The integration will allow users to open Copilot Chat from an icon in the top right corner of their Teams interface. It's like having a virtual assistant that you can summon with a click whenever you need help or want to revisit past conversations. This assistant can provide summaries, help with tasks, and give you quick access to information, making your work in Teams more efficient.
For example, imagine you're in a meeting discussing a project. Copilot Chat can help by summarizing key points or providing relevant data without you having to dig through files or notes. It's like having a personal secretary who can instantly recall and present information, saving you time and effort.
The rollout for this feature will begin with a public preview in October for chats and calls, and in December for meetings. By mid-November, it will be generally available for chats and calls, and by mid-January for meetings. Users will be able to access their previous Copilot interactions through a menu option, ensuring that past information is not lost.
This update doesn't require any administrative action, but it might be helpful to update any internal guides or documentation to reflect the new capabilities and interface changes. This way, everyone in your organization can make the most of this new tool.
