Details:
Today, the OneDrive sync client installs per-user, meaning OneDrive.exe is installed for every user account on the machine under %localappdata%. With the new per-machine install, admins will be able to install OneDrive under the Program Files (x86) directory. Other than where the sync client is installed, everything else stays the same. The per-machine client will be helpful especially for multi-user machines (kiosks, schools, VDI etc.) and in cases where admins do not want exe files running from the user profile. Over time, we plan to migrate more and more of our install base to per-machine.
