The new SharePoint Agent Link Web Part is like adding a helpful assistant directly onto your website page. Imagine you're at a library, and instead of wandering around looking for a book, you have a friendly librarian who comes to you when you press a button. This librarian can help you find the information you need without you having to leave your spot. That's what this new feature does for SharePoint pages.

When you add this web part to a page, it allows users to click a link that opens an AI agent in a side panel, or "sidecar," on the same page. This means users can get help or information without navigating away from what they're currently viewing. It's like having a virtual assistant pop up to answer questions or provide guidance right where you are.

To set it up, editors can find the Agent Link Web Part in the AI category of the web part toolbox. They can then add it to any page, configure it to link to a specific AI agent, and customize its appearance. Once published, visitors to the page can click the link to interact with the AI agent.

However, it's important to note that this feature requires users to have the appropriate Microsoft 365 Copilot license. If someone doesn't have the necessary access, they'll see a message indicating they can't use the feature. Also, this web part doesn't work on mobile devices or in emails, so it's best used on desktop browsers.

In terms of compliance, the agent might generate or process data temporarily to provide the necessary assistance, much like how a librarian might jot down notes to help you better. Admins have control over which agents are available and can manage access through SharePoint and Entra ID group memberships.

Overall, this feature is designed to make it easier for users to find and use AI-powered assistance directly from the pages they are already using, enhancing their experience without disrupting their workflow.
