Now when moving or copying a file, within or across SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business, if the file does not have a retention label, the default retention label applied to the destination folder or docset will be inherited. If no default retention label is present, or the destination isn’t a folder or docset, the default retention label applied to library will be inherited. If a default library retention label hasn’t been set (via library settings), the file’s retention label will remain blank. In addition, regardless of the file’s destination within the tenancy, when moving a file that has a retention label, the retention label will be retained and when copying a file that has a retention label, the retention label will not be retained.
