Details:
Exchange Online is introducing a new feature - Authentication Policy. Authentication Policies provide an Admin the capability to define protocols which should allow Basic Authentication. Policies can be created and set as default for the tenant, or set per user, with per-user settings overriding the tenant default. When a connection to Exchange Online using Basic Authentication is made, the policy conditions are checked and applied. If the connection attempt used Basic Authentication and the policy is configured to prevent Basic the connection will be blocked at that point.
