Group-connected SharePoint team sites in Office 365 currently have two web parts on the homepage: News and Activity. This update adjusts the home page to start with a default of four: News, Quick Links, Activity, and Documents. This change will not affect team sites that were previously created. Only new sites will receive the new homepage. And as you can today, site owners can add and remove web parts and adjust section layouts once the site is established. We will begin rolling this feature out to First Release organizations in early December 2017, and then out to Standard Release organizations shortly thereafter. As the roll out progresses, you may experience variance in the availability of the new site features when you create new homepages. When the roll out is completed, new homepages will only appear with four web parts.
