MC709269 | (Updated) Changes in file open behavior in classic Teams. | The following changes will take effect: All files in Shared channels will now open in browser instead of within Teams. This will ensure that you can access all the latest features and functionalities of the web app. OneNote notebooks pinned to channels/chats or the Notes tab within channels will continue to open within Teams. However, OneNote files when launched from any other surface in Teams will open in browser. This is a temporary situation for a few weeks until we integrate latest file open behavior into the OneNote Teams app, at which point you can go back to working with these files within the Teams environment. Some Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files that are pinned as tabs on chats/channels using the "Make this as tab" feature will render in read-only mode due to the legacy viewer powering the experience. Users will be asked to re-pin those documents as tabs to get an edit-ready experience powered by the latest viewer app for a more secure experience. For users on classic Teams version older than 1.6.00.34970, files in the above scenarios will open in read only mode. |

MC718750 | (Updated) Microsoft Teams: Simplified sign in for iOS and Android devices | After you set the app configuration policies in Intune or any other mobile device management (MDM) provider, users will be able to sign in by entering the first part of their user principal name (UPN) without the domain name. For example, if the username is 123456@contoso.com or adelev@contoso.com, users can sign with 123456 or adelev, respectively, and their password. If the first part of your UPN is numeric only, then admins can further simplify sign in by defaulting to numeric keypads on iOS and Android. You will be able to set these app configuration policies: "domain_name": A string value providing the domain of the tenant to appended. Use a semicolon delimited value to add multiple domains. "enable_numeric_emp_id_keypad": A Boolean value used to indicate that the employee ID is all numeric and the number keypad should be enabled for easy entry. If the value isn't set, the alphanumeric keyboard opens. If desired, users can select Other ways to sign in to enter the full email or sign in with another method such as a phone number. Android on the left, iOS on the right |

MC694648 | (Updated) Pick a local folder when Saving Attachments in the new Outlook for Windows | Starting mid-January 2024, users will be able to pick a folder when saving attachments to their system in the new Outlook for Windows. Previously, all attachments downloaded were saved to a default local folder, which users could not change. This meant that if users wanted to move the file to a specific location, they would have to perform multiple clicks to get to the folder where the file was saved and then move the file to the desired folder.
Now, when a user saves one or multiple attachments a file picker will open to allow the user to access, browse, and save files directly to their desired location on their system. We will begin rolling out mid-January 2024 and expect to complete by February 2024. |

MC697808 | (Updated) Promote channel creation | Updated March 1, 2024: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience. Today, our experience focusses on letting users create team at the top level, with channel creation as a per team level option. Looking at the user behavior here, users end up creating more teams, where it could have been channels within teams, leading to team proliferation and difficulty in managing teams. To address this, we are looking to promote channel creation. For users to collaborate effectively, they need to set-up the right collaboration space. Channels being the main hub of collaboration, we made it easier for users to create channels. With the channel creation option elevated to the top, users can now create the appropriate collab space by picking between team or channel. They will be able to host the channel into a team of their choosing. |

The ability to create a new post or reply to an existing post directly using email will be retired from Viva Engage starting on March 31st, 2024. Interactive emails in Outlook provide the richest way to stay engaged in Viva Engage conversations, polls, questions, and praise, without leaving the Outlook inbox.
Historically, users could create new posts in a Viva Engage community by sending an email to a specific email address for that community. Additionally, users can reply to an existing post via an email sent to that conversation. These flows will stop working.
