MC496849 (Updated) Stream (Classic) Sets Retirement Date of April 15, 2024 Stream (on SharePoint) brings your users many of the capabilities of Stream (Classic) while allowing them to record and play videos directly in many everyday work and school apps such as Teams, Office.com, Yammer, Viva, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. In addition, Stream (on SharePoint) also enables your and your users to:

Easily manage video files with the same security, admin controls, multi-geo support, compliance (eDiscovery, legal hold, retention, and data loss prevention policies), permissions, and sharing controls as the rest of your files in SharePoint and OneDrive.

Record videos with advanced tools directly in the camera like background blur or replace, inking, text, audio only, and teleprompter.

Search for videos anywhere in Microsoft 365. You can now find videos and Teams meeting recordings across Microsoft 365 by searching keywords.

Find what you need quickly on the Stream start page in Office. The new start page shows recent, shared, and favorite videos, with playlists coming soon. (Note: The Stream start page doesn't show you videos in Stream (Classic).)

View Teams Meeting Recordings with transcripts, chapters, timeline markers, speaker attribution, and comments.

Create custom page, site, and portal experiences to feature videos as part of your intranet and Viva Connections.

Share videos the same way you would any other file in Microsoft 365 with support for Guests, People in your Organization links, or unauthenticated external sharing with “anyone” links.

Get analytics per video, for all the videos in a site, or see who has watched your video.

Add videos to the Viva Connections Feed.

Use APIs based on the Microsoft Graph Files API for basic video file operations.

These benefits add up to ease of video management for admins and more productivity for your teams.

MC650424 (Updated) Windows Mail and Calendar are becoming Outlook For organization administrators the new Outlook for Windows will offer greater levels of control compared to Mail and Calendar such as the ability to (1) respect conditional access policies (2) enable/disable integration of features like Dropbox, Linkedin, Google Drive, ect. (3) enable/disable certain folders in Outlook and many more capabilities which can be found on the OWA Mailbox Policy Parameter page.

Users within your tenant, who have accounts signed into the Mail and Calendar app, should already see a toggle in the application. Clicking that toggle will bring users to the new Outlook for Windows.

Over the coming weeks, Mail & Calendar app users will begin to see additional notices in those apps stating that support will end in 2024 and they will need to migrate to the new Outlook for Windows.

[When this will happen:]

Important: In late August of 2023, we will also begin a process of auto-migrating Mail & Calendar app users to the new Outlook for Windows with an option to go back if they choose. Users can go back to the current Mail and Calendar apps by clicking the toggle in the new Outlook for Windows.

MC660075 (Updated) SharePoint admin control for App registration / update With this update site owners will not be able to register/update apps unless the tenant admin explicitly allows it.

To modify the default behavior, the tenant administrator must execute the following shell command to explicitly establish the flag as TRUE, thereby superseding the default value of FALSE. The service principal can only be created or updated by the tenant administrator by default. However, when the flag is set to TRUE, both the SharePoint tenant admin and site collection admin will be able to create or update the service principal through SharePoint.

The shell command is: Set-SPOTenant -SiteOwnerManageLegacyServicePrincipalEnabled $true

MC513603 (Updated) Use Microsoft Teams to produce Yammer Live Events This is an important announcement for customers who use Yammer live events. Yammer live events have historically used Stream live events for video processing. Microsoft is retiring Stream live events on September 15, 2023. Teams live events is the successor service that will allow you to create, host and produce live events within Yammer with the same functionality that you get with Stream.

While you will still be able to use the Stream live events option in Yammer until September 15, we’re rolling out two new ways in which Yammer live events can be produced:

Microsoft Teams QuickStart: Use the Microsoft Teams desktop client to produce your event, generally used in producing simple events.

Microsoft Teams external app or device: Use this to produce large-scale events, such an executive town hall, where a single stream from a media mixer is broadcast to an audience.

Once the live event is completed, the video if recorded, is stored in the SharePoint library of the community where the event was produced.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 82054.

[When this will happen:]

We will begin rolling out the new Live Events experience in late February 2023 and expect the rollout to complete by mid-March 2023.

Updated August 30, 2023: We have updated the content below with additional information.

This is an important message for customers who use Stream to host live events in Viva Engage.

We’re informing you of changes to the Message Center Post MC513603 titled “Use Microsoft Teams to produce Yammer live events”. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 82054 and was originally sent on February 9, 2023 and stated that Stream Live Events would retire on September 15, 2023. Microsoft has moved the retirement date of the Stream Live Events service from September 15, 2023, to January 30, 2024. Microsoft Teams live events, with encoder support is your new platform to host and run live events.

Teams live events with encoder support is the replacement service to Stream live events. Teams live events allows you to create, host and produce live events with the same functionality that you get with Stream. It also supports Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) input, which lets you create highly polished events that feature combined live streams, screen overlays, on-screen data and more.

You will be able to use Stream live events in Viva Engage until January 30, 2024, and after that live events must be produced using Teams live events. In January 2023, the Stream options to produce live events will be removed from Viva Engage.

Just like with Stream live events, there are two ways in which you can use Teams live events to produce events in Viva Engage:

Microsoft Teams QuickStart: Use the Microsoft Teams desktop client to produce your event, generally used in producing simple events.

Microsoft Teams external app or device: Use this to produce large-scale events, such an executive town hall, where a single stream from a media mixer is broadcast to an audience.

Once the live event is completed, the video, if recorded, is stored in the SharePoint library of the community where the event was produced.

[When this will happen:]

The Stream live events options will be removed from your tenant on January 30, 2024.

Viva Engage Community Managers will only be able to create live events only using the new Teams options. The Stream live events options will be removed.

MC546937 (Updated) Viva Topics app in Teams Updated August 2, 2023: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

The official Viva Topics app in Teams is rolling out to external customers.

Previously, we had built a Topics app for Teams as a script that Teams admins could upload. Now, the Topics app is available as a first party "Microsoft-built" app. This means the app is available in the app store for your tenant already, no upload or script-downloading required. Users in your tenant can either easily 'add' the app, like other Microsoft-built or Viva apps, or the Teams admins can select to have the Topics app pre-installed for users.

MC669735 (Updated) Rosters in Microsoft Planner Supporting Container Sensitivity Labels Customers will soon be able to apply container labels to rosters in Microsoft Planner. This is enabled directly in Planner by using Microsoft Graph APIs. When this feature is rolled out, the roster sensitivity labels can be set to respect the policy settings. If the tenant admin has made container labels mandatory and has set a default label, then the default label will be used for roster creation through Microsoft Loop client.

On the Loop client, if the default label is provided, it will be used as the roster's lable when creating the roster. The roster system will not allow the user to create an unlabeled roster or to un-label a previously labeled roster.

On the Microsoft Graph API, if a request is made and the label is not included, the request is rejected as the default label is not applied by the service. Users will need to ensure that a default label is provided when labels are mandatory so that roster creation does not fail.

Note: The container sensitivity label applied to a roster applies only to the information in Microsoft Planner and does not protect or encrypt the information when it syncs with the Loop client.

MC602596 (Updated) Microsoft Teams Panels Update To prepare for this incoming feature, we strongly recommend communicating this new feature to your users and share instructions if needed.

A recommended scanner for this feature is the mobile system/OS scanner on mobile phones. However, for Android, the scanning may not work if your users have both work and personal profiles on their Android phones. In this case, users will need to add mobile system/OS scanner in the work profile. To do that, follow the steps below:

In Intune go to Apps -> Android and add

Select Android enterprise system app

Enter type of Android phone and Google and paste OS camera package name

Assign to user / group of users

In this case, users will need to add mobile system/OS scanner in the work profile. To do that, follow the steps below:

In Intune go to Apps -> Android and add

Select Android enterprise system app

Enter type of Android phone and Google and paste OS camera package name

Assign to user / group of users

In order to use this feature, make sure Teams Panels is on 1449/1.0.97.2023080401. iOS mobile phones will need to be on 5.15.0 or higher, and Android mobile phones will need to be on 1416/1.0.0.2023153001 or higher.
