Microsoft is expanding a feature called "People Skills" to include more users in its Microsoft 365 suite. Imagine you have a personal assistant who observes your daily work activities and helps you update your resume by identifying new skills you've developed. This is similar to what AI-powered skill inferencing does. It automatically identifies and updates skills on your Microsoft 365 profile based on your work activities, like the documents you create or the emails you send, using data from Microsoft Graph.

Previously, this feature was only available to users with specific licenses, such as Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Viva. Now, it's being made available to users with Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 licenses. This means more people can benefit from having their skills updated automatically, making it easier to keep their profiles current without having to manually track every new skill they acquire.

For administrators, this feature can be turned on directly in the Microsoft 365 admin center, giving them control over who can use it. Currently, this option is available for US-based tenants with Copilot licenses. This change is like giving more employees access to a smart tool that helps them showcase their skills and stay competitive in their careers.
