Documents that have been electronically signed will now be automatically recognized and tagged as “Signed” upon upload to SharePoint. This enhancement also applies retroactively as existing e-signed files will be updated with the appropriate tags. To give users more visibility and control, we’re introducing two optional metadata columns for document libraries: Electronically Signed – Indicates whether a document has been eSigned. Signature Provider – Displays the service used for the eSignature. This feature is available exclusively to tenants with eSignature enabled, helping streamline compliance tracking and document management.

Imagine you have a large filing cabinet where you store all your important documents. Some of these documents have been signed, and you need to keep track of which ones are signed and who signed them. Traditionally, you might have used sticky notes or a special folder to organize these signed documents. Now, think of SharePoint as your digital filing cabinet.
Microsoft 365 has introduced a new feature that acts like an automatic sticky note system for your digital documents. When you upload a document that has been electronically signed to SharePoint, it will automatically be tagged as "Signed." This is similar to having a special marker that instantly labels your paper documents as signed when you put them in the cabinet.
Moreover, this feature doesn't just apply to new documents. It also goes back and updates existing files that have been electronically signed, ensuring your entire collection is up-to-date. This is like having a magic wand that retroactively places sticky notes on all your previously signed documents in the cabinet.
To make things even more organized, SharePoint is introducing two optional columns in your document library. One column will indicate whether a document has been electronically signed, and the other will show which service was used for the eSignature. Think of these columns as additional labels on your sticky notes, providing more information at a glance.
This new feature is particularly useful for organizations that need to track compliance and manage documents efficiently. It’s available to those who have eSignature capabilities enabled, making it easier to keep everything in order without manual tracking. Just like in a well-organized filing cabinet, you can quickly find and verify the status of your documents, ensuring smooth operations and peace of mind.
