[When this will happen:]
The promotion will go into effect January 6, 2025, and remain active until June 30, 2025. At the beginning of December 2024, admins can disable trial access at any point during the promotional period, via the SharePoint Online Management Shell. Tenants that are eligible for the promotion will see a message bar on the Copilot Admin page in the Admin Center.
[What you need to prepare:]
Starting the beginning of December, Global administrators or SharePoint admins can use the SharePoint Online Management Shell to manage access to the trial for users without Copilot licenses.
This can be done by updating to the latest version of the SharePoint Online Management Shell and running the following commands:
To opt out and disable access to the trial use the Set-SPOCopilotPromoOptInStatus cmdlet.
To confirm trial settings, use the Get-SPOCopilotPromoOptInStatus cmdlet.
To re-enable access to the trial, use the Set-SPOCopilotPromoOptInStatus cmdlet.
Ensure that you have the latest version of SharePoint PowerShell installed to run these cmdlets effectively.
