Summary:
The Microsoft Exchange admin center (EAC) has a new URL available now, with redirection from the old URL starting late October 2024 and completing by late December 2024. Both URLs will work until further notice. Organizations should whitelist the new URL and update bookmarks and documentation. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Details:
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a more integrated and seamless experience for our customers, we are pleased to announce a new URL for the Microsoft Exchange admin center (EAC): https://admin.cloud.microsoft/exchange. The existing URL (https://admin.exchange.microsoft.com) will remain active, allowing you to use either URL for accessing the EAC.
Starting late October 2024, all requests to the old URL will be redirected to the new URL. We expect to complete full redirection by late December 2024, and the old URL will remain active. In the future, we will communicate the timeline to retire the old URL.
[When this will happen:]
General Availability (Worldwide): The new URL is available now. We will begin rolling out the redirection from the old URL to the new one in late October 2024 and expect to complete by late December 2024.

Opportunities**

URL Whitelisting and Documentation Update
Organizations can enhance security and accessibility by ensuring the new URL is whitelisted across their network. This also includes updating internal documentation and user training materials to reflect the new URL, which can improve user experience and reduce confusion.
   - next-steps: Create a task force to identify all areas where the old URL is referenced. Update firewall rules to include the new URL and communicate the changes to all users. Schedule training sessions to inform staff about the new URL and its implications.
   - roles: IT Administrators, Network Security Teams, End Users
   - references: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/exchange-admin-center-eac-new-url/ba-p/3801231

Streamlined User Experience
By transitioning to a single new URL, organizations can streamline access for users, potentially reducing the time spent on navigating to the correct admin center. This can enhance productivity and minimize disruptions caused by outdated links.
   - next-steps: Conduct a user survey to gather feedback on the current experience with the EAC. Implement changes based on feedback and ensure that all users are informed of the new URL and its benefits. Monitor user access patterns post-transition.
   - roles: End Users, IT Support Teams, System Administrators

Improved IT Operations through Automation
With the new URL, organizations can automate the updating of bookmarks and scripts that reference the old URL, reducing manual workload and minimizing human error. This can lead to more efficient IT operations.
   - next-steps: Develop scripts to automatically update any existing bookmarks or documentation that reference the old URL. Test these scripts in a controlled environment before rolling them out organization-wide. Provide training on the new automated processes.
