Transition from Beta to v1.0 Graph API
If organizations do not prepare for the transition from the Beta version of the Graph API to v1.0, they may experience disruptions in accessing Copilot usage metrics, leading to potential gaps in reporting and analytics capabilities.

Microsoft is making some changes to how organizations can access and report on the usage of Microsoft 365 Copilot. Imagine you have a new tool in your office, like a fancy coffee machine that everyone loves. You want to know how often it's used, who uses it the most, and maybe even which days it gets the most action. This is similar to what Microsoft is doing with the Microsoft 365 Copilot usage metrics.
Previously, to get this information, you had to use a special test version, kind of like a prototype app that wasn't fully finished. Now, Microsoft is rolling out a finalized version of this tool, called Microsoft Graph API v1.0, which will be available starting in December 2025. This means that organizations can now easily access and analyze how much and how often Microsoft 365 Copilot is being used, just like tracking the coffee machine usage.
For those who have been using the test version, it's like moving from a beta version of an app to the official release. The test version will be retired by March 2026, so it's a good idea to update your systems to use the new version to ensure everything keeps running smoothly.
This change will happen automatically, so there's no need for immediate action. However, if your organization has been using the older version, you'll want to update your systems to point to the new version to keep getting the data you need.
In summary, this update is about making it easier for organizations to track and report on how Microsoft 365 Copilot is being used, helping them make informed decisions, much like how you might decide when to buy more coffee beans based on the coffee machine's usage data.
