Details:
Windows Autopatch is celebrating one year of managing updates for organizations around the world. Here's what's new and what’s coming soon to the service.
Autopatch groups – Divide tenants into up to 50 distinct groups.
Custom deployment rings – Deploy up to 15 rings, customize deployment schedules, and assign groups or individuals dynamically or directly to rings.
Custom policy naming – Change names to fit your organization’s standard.
Additionally, there are more content controls for:
Feature updates – Upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and use "phases" to stagger updates to support testing and feedback.
Microsoft 365 apps – Set up "opt out" channels for enrolled devices you specify so that they get updated according to the schedule you define for that channel.
Opt out of expedited updates – When critical security updates are expedited, by default they bypass progressive deployment rings. With this improvement, "opted-out" devices are updated through the progressive deployment ring schedule you have set in the Autopatch service.
Drivers and firmware – Drivers are validated from original equipment manufacturers and independent hardware vendors. Autopatch can automate the deployment of recommended drivers while you maintain manual control as Autopatch creates policies aligned with deployment rings. You can also manually approve drivers on a ring-by-ring basis.
When will this happen:
These new capabilities will become generally available beginning July 25, 2023.
