explanation for non-techies**

Microsoft Teams is introducing a new feature that allows users to have more control over the Copilot tool during meetings. Think of Copilot as a helpful assistant that can record, transcribe, and facilitate meetings. However, there might be times when you want to have a private discussion without Copilot's involvement.

Imagine you're hosting a dinner party with a professional photographer capturing every moment. Sometimes, you might want to have a private conversation with a guest without the camera capturing it. Similarly, this new feature in Teams lets you "turn off the camera" by pausing Copilot's recording and transcription capabilities during a meeting.

Starting in mid-September 2025, users will be able to toggle Copilot off during meetings on their desktop, web, or mobile devices. This means that when Copilot is turned off, it won't record or transcribe anything that is said or shown. It's like asking the photographer to step out of the room for a moment. Once the meeting is over, Copilot will only have access to the content that was captured while it was active.

This feature is designed to give users more flexibility and control over their meeting environment without needing any administrative setup. It's as simple as clicking a button on your screen to pause Copilot, just like turning off a light switch when you leave a room.

For those managing meeting settings or training materials, it's a good idea to update any guides or instructions to include this new control. Users can easily learn how to manage Copilot, ensuring they have the privacy they need during specific parts of their meetings.

Overall, this update provides a straightforward way for users to manage their interactions with Copilot, ensuring that they can have private discussions when necessary while still benefiting from Copilot's capabilities when needed.
