summary for non-techies**

Starting in April 2025, Microsoft will enable administrators to assign Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies to specific groups of SharePoint sites, known as administrative units, simplifying the process by applying policies to all sites within a unit rather than individually selecting sites.

Direct effects for Operations**

Data Loss Prevention Policy Scope Change
The change to only support the All-sites option for DLP policies may lead to unintended data exposure risks, as policies will apply to all sites rather than specific ones, potentially increasing the likelihood of data breaches.

User Experience with DLP Policies
Users may experience confusion and frustration due to the lack of ability to customize DLP policies for specific SharePoint sites, leading to potential disruptions in their workflow and data management practices.
