Guest Access Implementation
The introduction of guest access in Microsoft Mesh may lead to confusion among users regarding the new process for inviting and managing guest users, potentially resulting in miscommunication and operational delays during events.

Microsoft has announced an update to the Microsoft Mesh app on PC, allowing guest access for events. This means that event organizers can now invite people from outside their organization to join Mesh events as guest users. Think of it like hosting a virtual conference where you can now invite speakers and attendees from other companies to participate, just as if they were part of your own team.
Previously, only users within your organization could join these Mesh events. With this new feature, you can collaborate and network more broadly, bringing in external expertise and perspectives. Guest users will have the same interactive experience as internal users, including participating in discussions and accessing event features, while still maintaining secure access controls.
For this to work, guest users will need a Mesh license, similar to how regular users need one. This is like needing a ticket to enter a concert, whether you're a regular attendee or a special guest. The rollout for this feature will start in early November 2024 and complete by late November 2024, and it will happen automatically without requiring any administrative action.
In the future, Microsoft plans to extend guest access to the Mesh app on Meta Quest and to support anonymous participants, making it even easier to include a wider range of attendees in your events.
