MC808158 (Updated) Microsoft Teams: Automatic location updates on bookable desks Bookable desks refer to unassigned seats in the office that are equipped with devices such as monitors or other peripherals. Admins can associate these devices to a workspace account using the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal. This association will allow users to automatically claim a desk, and (in future) will provide IT with valuable usage analytics and reports. Learn more: Setting up Bookable Desks in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn. After configuring bookable desks, admins can enable automatic location updates at the tenant level or for a specific user group. Then, users can enable the feature at Teams > Settings (three-dot menu in top right of the screen) > Privacy > Sharing your work location. After users enable the feature, their work location will automatically update to In the office when they connect to a bookable desk, if their location was previously set to Unknown or Remote.

To help users find this feature, after an admin enables the feature, the banner "Looks like you're in the office" will appear the first time a user plugs into a bookable desk.

After a user enables automatic location updates, the banner "You're connected to your organization's network or device" will appear once when they plug into a bookable desk. The banner confirms that the user has successfully enabled automatic location update.

The user experience for Proximity Join on Microsoft Teams Rooms will not change as a result of this feature. The suggested room in the room list will be improved using ultrasound.

Previous tenants that were not able to leverage the Proximity Join feature due to Bluetooth restrictions will be able to use Proximity Join via ultrasound with this release.

This new feature will be enabled by default.

MC855685 Microsoft Forms | Data sync to Microsoft Excel: Support for migrating from the older solution to the new solution Users who rely on the older version to sync data from Forms to Excel will need to manually update the data sync to the new solution after October 20, 2024. After this date, existing Excel files with the older data sync will be retained but will no longer receive automatic data updates from Forms.

The older version of the data sync exists in two types of Forms:

Forms created from Microsoft OneDrive and Excel for the web

Group forms created with SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft 365 Groups.

For these two types of Forms, we will provide this support to migrate to the new solution:

Users who own Forms with the older version of the data sync will get notifications through email, Forms, and Excel for the web.

In Forms, users will be able to recreate the data sync with the new solution. A new worksheet will be created in the same workbook as the older data sync. The new worksheet will be connected to the latest data from Forms.

After the older solution is retired, the user can still recreate a new data sync to the Excel workbook.

For workflows that connect to Excel data from Forms responses (such as Power Automate workflows), users will need to update the workflow to the Forms connector for new response updates. Learn more: Create an automated workflow for Microsoft Forms - Microsoft Support

Note: The new data sync can only be triggered in Excel for the web. If users want to receive new Forms response data in the Excel desktop app, open the file in Excel for the web, and then wait for the desktop app file to sync from the web file. (Support for other versions of Excel is in progress.)

The new data sync solution will be on by default and available to all Forms and Excel for the web customers.

MC887373 (Updated) Microsoft Purview: Minor encrypted message portal design updates, URL to remain the same Users that receive encrypted messages that have a link to open the mail in the encrypted message portal will be redirected to applications under static.microsoft domains gradually and automatically. No specific user action is required. Links to the previous domains are backwards compatible and will continue to be supported. Users may notice that the new application domains are lacking the .com extension, which is by design, because .microsoft is Microsoft's own top-level domain. This exclusivity allows for additional security and protection against spoofing.

This change is on by default.

A modernized new user experience (UX) for Microsoft Purview eDiscovery will be available in the Purview portal. In this new UX experience, Content Search, eDiscovery Standard, and eDiscovery Premium are unified so that users can now navigate a shared workflow that simplifies the transition between non-premium and premium features. This UX modernization also introduces features that enhance the eDiscovery process. Some of these new features include:

Enhanced search efficiency with message ID and sensitivity labels for faster access to information.

Use of the improved search by Sensitive Information Type (SIT) interface for user-friendly selection without manual input.

Advanced Data Source Mapping allows linking a user's OneDrive using input such as the user's mailbox Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) address or user's name, streamlining data retrieval and management.

Acceleration through powerful investigation capabilities, such as user's frequent collaborators, providing a comprehensive view of the user's networks.

Data Source Sync: Stay updated with the new Data Source synchronization feature, which allows users to easily track any new or removed data locations, ensuring that eDiscovery investigations remain aligned with the latest data source landscape.

Introduction of the new visual Statistics allows users to gain insights at a glance (such as Results containing Sensitive Information Types, top communication participants, etc.)

Monitor long-running processes with an informed and transparent progress bar with the option to cancel (for certain process types) if needed.

Obtain a full process report for all actions taken, such as statistics for holds and exports, bolstering the defensibility of your eDiscovery efforts.

MC814587 (Updated) Microsoft Teams: Video tile re-sizing based on people count for Teams Rooms on Windows Updated July 26, 2024: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

In Gallery view for Microsoft Teams meetings, a room video is optimized and larger in size to increase visibility of participants that are in a Teams Room. With this update, the room video tile will dynamically re-size based on people count to ensure adequate and equitable space is allocated in Gallery view. If there is only one participant in the room, the video tile will be the same size as another remote participant tile. If there is more than one participant in the room, the room video tile will remain optimized, at 4x the size of a remote participant. To determine the people count in rooms, Cloud IntelliFrame must be enabled or there must be a room camera that is capable of sending people count via Accessory Signaling Protocol (ASP).

MC886603 (Updated) Reject multiple From addresses (P2 From headers) without a Sender header Starting October 15th, we're going to start gradually dropping messages that have multiple From addresses (also known as P2 From headers) without a Sender header from being sent via Exchange Online.

MC890889 Changes coming to the Copilot experience for Windows The Copilot experience on Windows is changing in response to your feedback. Moving forward, users with work or school accounts will access Microsoft Copilot through the Microsoft 365 app. In addition, Microsoft Copilot will offer enterprise data protection (EDP) at no additional cost for all users signed in with an Entra account. This means that security, privacy, and compliance controls and commitments available for Microsoft 365 Copilot will extend to Microsoft Copilot prompts and responses.

[When will this happen?]

The update to Microsoft Copilot to offer enterprise data protection is rolling out now-and is replacing the current Copilot in Windows experience. The shift to the Microsoft 365 app as the entry point for Microsoft Copilot will align with the annual Windows 11 feature update release. Changes will be rolled out to managed PCs starting with the optional non-security preview release on September 24, 2024, and following with the monthly security update release on October 8 for all supported versions of Windows 11. These changes will be applied to Windows 10 PCs the month after.

MC835648 (Updated) Announcing IPv6 Enablement for Accepted Domains To take advantage of IPv6 connectivity, please make sure that your network allow-lists allow Exchange Online IPv6 endpoints in the same way it allow-lists IPv4.

The Exchange Online IPv6 endpoints can be found here: Microsoft 365 URLs and IP address ranges.

We understand customers have unique situations and may require their own timeline for IPv6 enablement. For customers who need to remain IPv4-Only, we will update this post in September with details on how to opt-out of IPv6 for your Accepted Domains.

With this change, please note that traffic moved to IPv6 will have more stringent authentication requirements, as described here Support for anonymous inbound email over IPv6

If you expect this change to cause any issues for your organization, please reach out via your regular support channels.

https://aka.ms/m365endpoints

https://learn.microsoft.com/defender-office-365/mail-flow-about#support-for-anonymous-inbound-email-over-ipv6

https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/enterprise/ipv6-support?view=o365-worldwide
To take advantage of IPv6 connectivity, please make sure that you and your partner's update network allow-lists to allow Exchange Online IPv6 endpoints in the same way it allow-lists IPv4.

The Exchange Online IPv6 endpoints can be found here: Microsoft 365 URLs and IP address ranges.

To opt a domain out of inbound IPv6 so traffic flowing to the domain remains IPv4-only, please use Disable-IPv6ForAcceptedDomain -Domain for each domain you want to opt out of IPv6 (Disable-IPv6ForAcceptedDomain (ExchangePowerShell) | Microsoft Learn).

IPv6 enablement may impact the source IP type used by Senders when connecting to Exchange Online, as the source and destination IP versions must match. For any IP Address-based Inbound connectors in Exchange Online that are referencing IPv4 addresses, you need to either:

Keep the sending server as IPv4.

Coordinate with the Sender so the Sender keeps connecting to your domain(s) via IPv4 or Opt your domain(s) out of IPv6

Change the IP based connector to certificate domain based connector.

This applies to both OnPremises type (From: Your organization's email server, To: Office 365) and Partner Type connectors (From: Partner organization, To: Office 365).

You can manage IPv6 for your Exchange Online Accepted Domains using the commands Enable-IPv6ForAcceptedDomain or Disable-IPv6ForAcceptedDomain.

Currently, you can check the status of your Accepted Domains with the Get-IPv6StatusForAcceptedDomain command. While some customers have already enabled IPv6, most will see it as disabled until October 16th.

After October 16, once IPv6 is enabled for your tenant, if you haven't explicitly set the IPv6 status for your Accepted Domains, the Get-IPv6StatusForAcceptedDomain command will reflect the new default behavior (enabled).

IMPORTANT: To ensure your preferred settings are applied, please use the Enable-IPv6StatusForAcceptedDomain or Disable-IPv6StatusForAcceptedDomain commands before October 16th, after which IPv6 will be enabled by default if you haven't explicitly set it.

MC862983 (Updated) Microsoft Copilot to update to enterprise data protection Users who sign in with an Entra account to Microsoft Copilot will be redirected automatically-no action is required.

To ensure people across your organization have easy access to Microsoft Copilot and can benefit from the security and experience updates to Copilot, we recommend you enable in-app access today by pinning Microsoft Copilot. If you elect to pin Microsoft Copilot for your users, it will appear in the Microsoft 365 app starting mid-September, and it will be coming soon to Microsoft Teams and Outlook. The option to pin Copilot can be found under Settings on the Copilot page in the Microsoft 365 admin center (Global Admin permissions required).

Note: This setting is for users who don't have a license for Copilot for Microsoft 365; licensed users will have it pinned by default just as it is today.

Additionally, if your organization manages app distribution for mobile devices, you should push the Microsoft 365 mobile app to these users before mid-September. For self-managed devices, you should encourage users to download the Microsoft 365 mobile app before mid-September or they will be prompted to do so when this change happens.

If you wish to inform your users prior to the change, you can use the below message:

"Microsoft Copilot provides a powerful, web-grounded AI chat experience for work with enterprise data protection. Starting mid-September, you'll be redirected from copilot.microsoft.com and bing.com/chat to microsoft.com/copilot to access a simplified, ad-free Microsoft Copilot experience. If you use the Copilot mobile app, you will be redirected to the Microsoft 365 mobile app. If you do not have the Microsoft 365 app installed, you should do so."

If you elect to pin Copilot, you can also include the following:

"Microsoft Copilot will also be pinned inside the apps you use every day like the Microsoft 365 app, Outlook, and Teams to make it easier to use Copilot in your flow at work."

Note: If you do not make a pinning selection by mid-September, your users will be prompted to pin Microsoft Copilot themselves. While not recommended, you can disable the prompt for end users with the same setting.

[Additional Information:]

If you would like to try the updated Microsoft Copilot with enterprise data protection prior to mid-September, a private preview is available (space limited). To apply, please visit here: Private Preview: Microsoft Copilot with enterprise data protection

MC887373 (Updated) Microsoft Purview: Minor encrypted message portal design updates, URL to remain the same Educate users to recognize and expect static.microsoft as a key domain for Microsoft cloud experiences. Users can learn more about the .microsoft domain in What is cloud.microsoft? - Microsoft Support

If your organizational websites, tools, or other materials reference the old URL outlook.office365.com/Encryption, those links will be automatically redirected. It would be good practice to update those assets and any documentation with screenshots to avoid user confusion.

Admins should ensure that connections to *.static.microsoft are not blocked from their clients and enterprise networks. This recommendation should require no action if you are following standard Microsoft network guidance on domains and service endpoints

---Summary of original message---

The Microsoft Purview Message Encryption portal provides access to encrypted messages sent from your organization's users to external recipients. The cloud.microsoft domain was provisioned in early 2023 to provide a unified, trusted, and dedicated DNS domain space to host Microsoft's first-party authenticated SaaS products and experiences. With this rollout, selected Microsoft products and scenarios will transition to a similar static.microsoft domain, in parallel with the previous domains. As part of this transition, the design of the portal (fonts, colors, controls, and more) will be adjusted to align with Purview branding and domain change.
