MC693860 | (Updated) Estimating cost of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Endpoint | Updated July 5, 2024: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience. The OCR Cost Estimator allows customers to estimate the potential cost for using Optical Character Recognition (OCR). OCR can scan images for sensitive content and is chargeable based on the number of images scanned. With the launch of the OCR Cost Estimator, customers can now estimate OCR costs without any pre-requisites. This means that customers will no longer be required to set up an Azure Subscription for billing first and can accurately estimate the cost they would have incurred while using OCR. |

MC709981 | (Updated) DLP - Adding matched attachment details in Activity Explorer for Data Loss Prevention rules in Exchange | Updated May 17, 2024: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience. We are adding new fields in Microsoft Exchange to help prevent data loss. With these updates, admins can see more details about the attachments that are present in the email that violated the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) rules, including name, size, and labels. There will be new fields for the attachments that are in emails when they match a DLP rule that will be displayed in Activity Explorer, DLP Alerts, and Microsoft Theft Protection (MTP) Alerts. With these updates, you can get better insights into the violation that has occurred even before you start getting into the finer details of the issue. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 369015 Worldwide: We will begin rollout in early August 2024 (previously early March) and expect to complete in late September 2024 (previously late April). |

Setting Custom scripts setting for a site in SharePoint tenant admin center will be fully available by early-April (Previously March). PowerShell command (DelayDenyAddAndCustomizePagesEnforcement) to delay the change will be fully available by mid- April (Previously March). The enforcement to set NoScriptSite to True for all existing SharePoint sites and OneDrive sites if DelayDenyAddAndCustomizePagesEnforcement is not set to True will start late-April and be completed by early-May (Previously March) There are changes happening to Custom script settings between April and May 2024 (Previously March). The Custom Script setting, which determines if users can execute custom scripts on personal sites and self-service created sites will be removed by early-May (Previously March). This setting is currently located in the SharePoint Admin Center, under Settings -> Classic Settings. A new PowerShell command, "DelayDenyAddAndCustomizePagesEnforcement", has been introduced. MC803006 | (Update) Outlook for Windows display name change | Starting in July 2024, Microsoft will change the app name of the current Outlook for Windows for all customers as it appears in the Start menu now from "Outlook" to "Outlook (classic)". This is not a change in status or support for the classic Outlook app. Please continue to refer to our blog post timeline for product support and availability. New Outlook for Windows: A Guide to Product Availability. This change is intended to differentiate it from the new Outlook for Windows. Users will see this update in classic Outlook version 2407 and higher.
This naming convention now also aligns with how it is referred to in support documentation. For instance, at the top of articles like this one on using favorites, there are tabs for different instructions in new Outlook and classic Outlook so users can find the instructions appropriate for the version they are on. Users will see the new app name in the Start menu after they install version 2407 or later. |
Updated August 27, 2024: The following update is available. Thank you for your patience. Update: Some users of classic Outlook may not see the app name change due to a known issue: Outlook icon on the Start menu is not updated to Outlook (Classic) - Microsoft Support. As a related change, the new Outlook icon has been updated as of August 1st to remove the "New" badge, and this update will be automatically applied when users launch the app. Starting in July 2024, Microsoft will change the app name of the current Outlook for Windows for all customers as it appears in the Start menu now from "Outlook" to "Outlook (classic)". Updated August 30, 2024: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience. Based on customer feedback, we are introducing the ability to provide a meaningful name to the General channel in a new or existing team. The General channel can be renamed by the team owners to show up in the teams' and channels' list of all members in alphabetical order. In addition, Microsoft Teams users must also set a name for the first channel during team creation within the Microsoft Teams client. Instead of "General" as the default name, the first channel of a new team must be given another name, providing the flexibility to provide a specific and more meaningful channel name. "General" cannot be used for the first channel name for new teams, and for an existing General channel that has been renamed, it cannot be changed back to the "General" name. To create a new team from the Microsoft Teams client, navigate to the + button in the header and select New team from the context menu. Users can name the first-created channel in this team during this step (it will no longer be named General by default). This channel cannot be archived or deleted, and it will appear in alphabetical order with the other channels in that team. MC822720 | (Updated) Microsoft Defender for Office 365: Four override alerts retire in August 2024 | Microsoft Defender for Office 365 is retiring four legacy override alerts that are now mostly redundant due to Secure by default. With Secure by default, ZAP (zero-hour auto purge) blocks high confidence phishing emails by default despite the legacy overrides. The four alerts are: Phish not zapped because ZAP is disabled Malware not zapped because ZAP is disabled Phish delivered due to ETR override Phish delivered due to IP allow As part of the deprecation and rollout, These policies will no longer be part of the Alert policies in the Microsoft Defender portal. Existing alerts that are already generated will be in the system (part of Alerts) until data retention applies. Any features like AIR built on these policies will not function (return no data) but will not result in any crashes or issues to the system. Any features like Investigations or post-breach functionalities will not have these alerts as part of the selection, filtering, or processing. When is the change? We plan to turn off these alerts starting August 18, 2024 and ending August 30, 2024. Who is impacted? Phish not zapped because ZAP is disabled: E5/G5 or Microsoft Defender for Office 365 P2 add-on subscription Malware not zapped because ZAP is disabled: E5/G5 or Defender for Office 365 P2 add-on subscription Phish delivered due to ETR override: E1/F1/G1, E3/F3/G3, or E5/G5 Phish delivered due to IP allow: E1/F1/G1, E3/F3/G3, or E5/G5 What should I do if I am impacted?
