MC289965 Records Management & Information Governance update on file deletion behavior when using a retention label in SPO The new default behavior allows Users in SharePoint to “delete” files labeled with a retention label configured to “retain items for a specific period” as this operation is no longer blocked with an error message. When deleted, these files will still be preserved for compliance purposes by moving a copy of them to the “Preservation Hold Library” of the site where they can be accessed by eDiscovery and other compliance solutions.
This change does not cause any loss of data meant to be retained, it simply allows users to remove the file from their library view while it’s preserved for compliance purposes.
This change does not alter the behavior of labels configured to “only delete items when they reach a certain age” or “don’t retain or delete items”. This change also does not affect how retention policies behave in SharePoint.
This change only applies to SharePoint. OneDrive files already have this experience.

MC294765 Microsoft 365 compliance center: Advanced eDiscovery - Announcing general availability of case limit enhancements Large case support in Advanced eDiscovery won’t affect your organization’s current eDiscovery workflow in existing cases. When creating a new case, you will have the ability to choose between a normal case (the existing case format) or a large case (the new feature). With the large case setting, you can create up to 1 TB of content per collection and the commit the collection to a single review set. When collecting content using the large case format, cloud attachments and contextual Teams and Yammer content are automatically added to the review set. This functionality helps to provide you with a complete picture of digital communications. With the new large case format, you can manage large volume cases in excess of 40 million items per case, and effectively manage large data sets throughout the eDiscovery process.

MC293779 (Updated) Reminder: Auto Forwarding Policy For On-Prem Customers "Setting = Automatic" As shared previously in September (MC288465), users that are automatically forwarding from on-premises mailboxes through Office 365 will be subject to the automatic forwarding controls defined in the anti-spam outbound policies starting on November 1, 2021. This will impact users if the setting is configured as either Automatic, or Off. In either of these cases automatic forwarding from on-premises mailboxes will be blocked by the setting.
You are receiving this message because we have identified that you may have users that are currently automatically forwarding from on-premises through Office 365 where the outbound anti-spam policy being applied to them configured as Automatic.

MC288633 M365 Records Management, Information Governance & eDiscovery– Optimized behavior of file versions preserved in SPO & ODB This update changes the behavior of deleted files that are set to be retained, and that have multiple versions of the file. They will be retained in the Preservation Hold Library as a single file with all versions as part of its version history just like they exist before being deleted. Previously, each version was retained individually as a separate file.
This change affects your ability to search those versions in eDiscovery. It provides consistency for eDiscovery searches regardless of whether the file has been deleted or not, searching only the last version of it by default rather than getting multiple matches for versions in between them.
If you have query-based holds configured in eDiscovery, there will be a change to how retained files are searched and retained as outlined above. For more information on query-based holds, please visit: Create eDiscovery holds in a Core eDiscovery case - Microsoft 365 Compliance | Microsoft Docs
Note: These changes do not impact the retention or deletion of your content or cause any changes to your retention labels or policies, all versions are still being kept, just as part of the version history of the file.

MC289965 Records Management & Information Governance update on file deletion behavior when using a retention label in SPO To improve consistency of user experience between OneDrive and SharePoint, the behavior of any retention label set to “retain items for a specific period” in SharePoint will change to allow users to “delete” the document which will then be preserved in the Preservation Hold Library until the specified period expires.
In response to your great feedback and provide more flexibility for different organizations, we have added the ability to configure this behavior for your tenant.

MC280914 (Updated) Records Management–Announcing public preview of adaptive policy scopes for retention and label policies Updated October 14, 2021: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
This new feature (preview), Adaptive policy scopes, will allow data administrators to scope retention policies and retention label policies to a dynamic set of users, SharePoint sites, or Microsoft 365 Groups. This is enabled by using the properties or attributes associated with these locations. Adaptive policy scopes work with all locations, including Exchange mailboxes, Microsoft 365 Groups, SharePoint sites, OneDrive accounts, Teams chats, channel messages (including private channels), and Yammer user and community messages.
Before this release, admins had to manually manage what was included in each policy by creating multiple custom scripts to add or remove locations from a policy. Adaptive policy scopes will automatically add and remove applicable locations to a policy as properties change for the associated user, site, or group.
Additionally, adaptive policy scopes are not subject to previous per-policy limits of only including 100 sites or 1000 mailboxes per policy which often caused duplicate policies in large organizations.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID: 70578.

Public preview: will begin rolling out in mid-October (previously early September) and be complete by the end of October (previously mid-October).

MC295027 (Updated) Rich text and images in Planner task notes If your organization has custom applications interacting with our Microsoft Graph Planner API, make sure to update the apps to support the rich text task notes field as soon as it is available to take advantage of the new notes capabilities. We will maintain support for the existing plain text task notes field in our Microsoft Graph Planner API for at least 36 months.
If your organization has applications or workflows which parse the task notes to trigger logic based off contents in the notes field, we recommend users continue to input only plain text in task notes and not apply text formatting or insert images into task notes. Such apps should also be updated to avoid parsing task notes or applying logic to contents in the task notes as these are not recommended uses of the task notes field in our API.
