MC220791 (Updated) New Feature: Manage how long guests can access SharePoint Online and OneDrive documents One of the strengths of SharePoint and OneDrive is that it facilitates sharing and collaborating among peers, not only within an organization but also with people outside the organization (guests).
In order to https://docs.microsoft.com/sharepoint/turn-external-sharing-on-or-off better manage sharing, tenant admins will be able to create a policy to revoke guest access to SPO sites and individual OneDrives after a defined period of time. With this policy, you can limit guest user access; thus guests who are no longer active partners will not retain indefinite access to documents and files.
This policy is not retroactive; it does not apply to guests who already have access to sites, documents and files.
The policy applies to a user's access to a given SPO site or individual OneDrive. When the access period reaches your policy threshold, such as 10 days, then the guest loses access to all content in that site. Guest access expires on a site-by-site basis, determined by when the guest was granted access to each site, whether that is an SPO site or an individual OneDrive.
After a guest loses access to a site, any user with the ability to share content externally can re-invite the guest to each document or item as needed.
SharePoint site administrators can extend access at any time, up to the limit of the tenant policy. For example, if the tenant policy is 10 days, and today is the 10th of the month, the SharePoint site admin could extend access for an external guest to the 20th of the month. There is no limit on the number of time a site admin can extend access.
SharePoint site administrators will receive e-mail notifications advising of upcoming guest user access expirations.

MC223444 (Updated) Introducing Designer in Word Designer helps writers create documents with a consistent look-and-feel. It provides a variety of themes to help writers create documents that better communicate ideas visually.
To access Designer, open a document in Word for the web and then select Home ; Designer.
Designer also detects formatting inconsistencies. Apply formatting fixes by clicking on a button at the top of the pane or allow formatting fixes to be applied automatically when selecting a theme.
In addition, Designer will improve Word document accessibility by using semantic styles (e.g., title and headings).
Designer will eventually make additional suggestions as well.

MC229914 Final Notice for disabling of TLS1.0 and TLS 1.1 Support for Exchange Online Mail Flow Organizations who are most at risk are those with hybrid routing and on-premises servers however there may be disruptions to mail flow for numerous other scenarios where these older TLS versions are still being used. If you have not done so already, please ensure that all mail servers and devices connecting to Exchange Online use TLS1.2. While some traffic may still flow after the change is made because TLS is used opportunistically by default, connections involving on-premises or partner connectors require TLS and the certificates that are shared for authentication purposes.

MC230505 (Updated) Block Download Permissions for Teams Meeting Recordings on OneDrive When this change is implemented;
All new Teams meeting recordings uploaded to OneDrive and SharePoint will get the same permissions as outlined https://docs.microsoft.com/MicrosoftTeams/tmr-meeting-recording-change#permissions-or-role-based-access here, except that everyone who would normally receive view-only permissions will now also be blocked from being able to download the recording by default for non-channel meetings (i.e. the ones going to the recorder?s OneDrive). We will update that documentation to reflect the added block download restrictions once the feature is deployed. This change that will block downloadability of Teams meeting recordings will apply only to non-Channel meetings (aka ?adhoc? meetings). Meeting recordings from meetings hosted in a Teams channel are uploaded to the doclib on the SharePoint team site backing that Teams channel. As such, it inherits the permissions from that team site to maintain its collaborative nature. It is recommended that you do not use Channel meetings for sensitive topics where you do not want members to have full access. A separate post and roadmap item will be created for the channel meeting recording solution in the future.
Any time the recording is shared with someone else, block download permissions will continue to be set by default. Only the recording edit owners will have the ability to explicitly override that setting and re-share with download permissions if they choose to do so. That will be an explicit action, so the owners will not be at risk of accidentally oversharing.
The enhanced security and privacy permissions setting will happen by default and cannot be overridden.
Note; This only applies new recordings created after you are enrolled in the new OneDrive and SharePoint experience.

MC239095 Performance Improvements in Excel for the Web When using Excel for the web, the following scenarios have been optimized for performance;
Loading ? We?ve significantly reduced the time it takes to load a workbook, making it faster for you to start working in Excel for the web.
Scrolling ? Scrolling is a fundamental part of working in Excel. Now, even in incredibly complex sheets, scrolling is smooth and fast.
Selection ? Even more fundamental than scrolling, is the need to interact with content in your workbook. We have optimized the speed of cell selection, so you?ll experience less lag and a more fluid experience when working in the grid.
Navigating - We optimized several navigation actions; find/search, Go-To, page-up and page-down are all now faster.
Modifying - We developed faster cell editing and formatting experiences.

MC240159 Update to unifiedRoleAssignment API in Azure AD We have a role management API that is currently in beta ? https://docs.microsoft.com/graph/api/rbacapplication-list-roleassignments unifiedRoleAssignments. This API returns the Azure AD role assignments for a specific security principal. It returns both direct and transitive role assignments because https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/active-directory/roles/groups-concept Azure AD roles can now be assigned to groups. For example, suppose you have a user named Alice in the Contoso tenant. She is assigned the User Administrator role directly and assigned the Global Reader role via a group named Contoso_Global_Readers. When you use the following API, it returns two role assignments in the HTTP response - User Administrator and Global Reader.

GET https://graph.microsoft.com/beta/roleManagement/directory/roleAssignments?$filter=principalId eq '<guid of Alice;'

In the case of the Global Reader role assignment, the principalId is equal to that of Alice, which is not completely accurate. The principalId for the Global Reader role assignment should instead be the Contoso_Global_Readers principalId.

Because of this behavior, we are making two changes to this API;

We will return only direct role assignments when there is a $filter for principalId.

We will create a new API to fetch the transitive role assignments for a specific security principal. This new API should be available in the second half of this calendar year.

MC240609 (Updated) Feature Update: Modern comments in Word (Windows) When this has rolled out to your users, they will see the modern comments experience, which allows them to @mention and post comments without worrying that co-authors will see their comments before they are complete.

Modern comments provides a consistent commenting experience across Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Users will be able to respond to comments directly from an email notification. The new design provides a focused view of comments as well as an optional all comments view via the Comments pane. With the new post model, Ctrl+Enter is a keyboard shortcut for posting comments.

The new experience shows comments to the right of the page by default. This default focused view hides all resolved comments so you can focus on active comments. The Comments button in the upper right corner of your Word window lets you switch to the Comments pane. This shows all comments in the document including resolved comments.

MC241581 New Video only Meeting stage experience We strive to ensure that we are providing notification of changes proactively and we apologize that we did not make our commitment with this change.
A recent change has enabled a new Video only Meeting stage. With this new meeting layout experience, video-only participants will fill the meeting layout even if they aren't dominant speakers.
[Key Points;]
Timing; This change has been rolled out and is available now.
Action; Users will see the change once they restart their Teams client.
[How this effects your organization;]
Prior experience;
In Microsoft Teams meetings where some attendees had videos on and some had videos off, users would see up to 9 attendees on screen in a ?mixed grid?; a mix of video-on and video-off participants. Audio-only participants (those who have their video turned off) would be shown as avatars (see examples below; avatars can be either initials or a profile picture). This occupied substantial space on the screen which could be used instead to show more video participants as available.
New experience;
With the new view optimized for video experience, the meeting prioritizes showing participants who have their video turned on. This makes it possible for the user to simultaneously see up to 9 video participants in a meeting. For meetings with more than 9 participants, we prioritize participants with video to be shown on the stage. Participants with audio are clubbed and shown below the videos.

MC244732 Request/Release workflow for quarantined messages The EOP anti-spam, anti-phishing, anti-malware and safe attachments will now allow for more granular control of recipient actions. As part of these new granular controls end users will be able to request the release of a message. These granular controls are set up by admin.

Previously, admins were unable to alter end user access for messages quarantined by the default policies.
Before this new end user release workflow, end users who had access to preview a quarantined message had no direct way to request that the message be released. Instead, they had to manually ask an admin to release messages.
Note; these policy changes will not impact existing end user access controls. Changes will be managed by the Admin.

MC247827 (Updated) Apply granular conditional access policies to SharePoint Online sites via sensitivity labels (preview) You might want additional authentication for accessing certain sensitive sites. For example, when a user visits a highly sensitive site labeled Confidential, you might want to enforce a step-up authentication with granular policies such as multi-factor authentication (MFA) when the user's context does not meet the access requirement of the site.

In this preview release, you will be able to create https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/active-directory/conditional-access/concept-conditional-access-cloud-apps Conditional Access authentication contexts in Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) tailored to your organization's security posture.
You can then associate these authentication contexts with Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) sensitivity labels in the https://compliance.microsoft.com Microsoft 365 compliance center.
For example;

Low authentication context requires single factor authentication; this can be associated with a 'General' sensitivity label.
High authentication context requires MFA such as one time passcode verification and/or IP network location policy. This authentication context can be associated with a Confidential sensitivity label.

Once an admin configures the sensitivity label with authentication context, when a user applies a sensitivity label, the associated granular contextual and conditional policies are automatically enforced.

MC248392 (Updated) Spoof intelligence management enhancements for policy, insights and report Once available, a new additional policy, Tenant Allow/Block Lists will appear in the list of Threat policies page, which will provide a page for Spoofing from where a Security Administrator can manage spoofed domains/users (i.e. email addresses) and allow or block them for the tenant. You need to have a Security Admin role as well as View-Only Configuration/View-Only Organization Management role.
As a Security Administrator, you can view, add, update, delete spoofed domain pairs using this Policy or optionally using the below PowerShell cmdlets.

Get-TenantAllowBlockListSpoofItems
New-TenantAllowBlockListSpoofItems
Set-TenantAllowBlockListSpoofItems
Remove-TenantAllowBlockListSpoofItems

Note; The existing 'spoof intelligence policy' setting currently seen within the AntiSpam policy will no longer be available. You will be able to perform the actions to allow or block spoofed senders using the new Tenant allow/block lists-Spoofing policy. (Note, the legacy PS cmdlets Get-PhishFilterPolicy and Set-PhishFilterPolicy that are tied to the AntiSpam policy-;Spoof intelligence policy will temporarily still be available, however it is not recommended that you use these as they will be retired in the future by the end of Dec 2021)
Furthermore, as you might be aware, currently you can review insights as suspicious or non-suspicious spoofed domains determined by Spoof intelligence system within the past 7 days. You will be able to continue reviewing these insights in an easier way - By using spoof intelligence insight pages when you click on View suspicious domains or View non-suspicious domains links and optionally using Get-SpoofIntelligenceInsight cmdlet. Note; The spoofing activity shown on these insight pages is purely determined by the Spoof intelligence system and accordingly allowed or blocked by the system, whereas the spoofing activity shown on Tenant Allow Block list-Spoofing page is purely determined by a Security Administrator. If you wish to update an action (shown as Allow/Block) on a particular existing domain pair while reviewing the spoof intelligence insight (in case you decide to override the action taken by Spoof intelligence), you must use the UX portal. Once you update the current action of an existing domain pair from Spoof intelligence insight page, that pair will no longer be shown on the Spoof intelligence insight page, but will be shown on Tenant allow/block list-Spoofing page because it is considered a pair determined by the Administrator.
For a detailed Spoof detections report and a historical view of up to the last 90 days of spoofing activity, you can view Spoof detections report or optionally use Get-SpoofMailReport cmdlet.

Now you can choose a policy to apply a label to identify sensitive information in an email that you want labeled and the label can be applied automatically.
The full list of new conditions includes the following;

sender address

sender domain
sender address word match
sender address pattern match
recipient address pattern match
recipient membership
header pattern match
subject pattern match

In addition, an exception condition for all new and existing conditions is also available.
